As the New York Jets opened training camp this week, they added former
Jacksonville Jaguars pass rusher Jason Babin on a two-year contract,
with a team option for the second year. While Calvin Pace and Quinton
Coples are locked in as the team's starting outside linebackers, the
34-year-old Babin should play an important role for the Jets.
A
two-time Pro Bowler who tallied 30.5 sacks in 2010 and 2011, Babin has
gotten to the quarterback just 14.5 times in the past two seasons. While
the Jets are the seventh NFL team he's played for, he is far more
accomplished than another summer acquisition the Jets made back in 2011,
former Bills first-round pick Aaron Maybin.
